NEMLIT level A medicines in Tanzania: what a dispensary can stock and who can prescribe them
Tanzania's National Essential Medicines List (NEMLIT, 7th edition, 2026) lists 187 medicines at level A, meaning they should be available from dispensary level upwards. Level A medicines may be prescribed by specialists, medical officers, dental officers, assistant medical officers, clinical officers and assistant clinical officers. None of them is on the DukaDawa pharmacy network yet.
